Raised in Kenya, Namibia, and Somalia, Laila Macharia is a Serial Entrepreneur and Angel Investor in education, health, financial inclusion, new media, and data solutions.

Laila currently chairs the boards of the Africa Digital Media Group and Aspen’s Africa Leadership Initiative for East Africa. She is also a non-executive director of the Absa Bank of Kenya and Centum, both listed on the Nairobi Stock Exchange.

Laila was honored in 2010 as a Fellow of the Aspen Institute’s Africa Leadership Institute and, in 2012, was named one of the Top 20 Women to Watch in Africa by the Times of London.
